Working Bee - Sunday 10th September

Thank you to all the members who came along, on a wet and cold day, to stay on top of our busy spring workload in the Sanctuary Mahi Whenua gardens.

Our list of chores and the wheelbarrows, ready and waiting under a grey and chilly sky.

The beautiful Magnolia (N.Z.bred variety, Star Wars) in bloom.

A good turn out, given the inclement weather.

Sarah and Benedicte prepare the ground for the Christmas potatoes. Once they're harvested, the three sisters will be planted for (hopefully) the Heroic garden festival.

Benedicte, Sarah, Jenni and Rose.

Mort and Karine, with Bev in the background.

Bill and Janet.

Kathryn working in the Kale communal garden.

Our potential 'Gardener of the Year' Trevor, working the compost.

John finishes laying the shade netting over the newly planted green crop of lupins (planted for their Nitrogen fixing properties).

Bev preparing the Asparagus beds.

John weighing down the shade cloth with some handy stones.

Christine weeding in the Strawberry and Blueberry patch - NOT in Guantanamo!

Several downpours of hail...

Jackie sheltering from the hail in the food forest with

Bev and the paparazzi.

Meanwhile, the Nettles are growing well, ready to be dried into a delicious tea.

Rose and Kathryn weeding the sweetpeas.

Jan weeding the pathway.

Karine and Carla (with Benedicte and Sarah in the background).

Lucille et Louise.

And Timothe.

Apologies to anyone missed out by the paparazzi. I'm blaming the inclement weather for poor coverage this time.
