This is a collection of photos taken from late summer until the start of spring. I think its most fitting to celebrate how clever our gardeners are at producing food over the colder months of the year.

A close up of the glossy health of the lettuces above |

Portuguese Kale Couve tonchuda tried out for the first time by John. He really likes
the flavour and the large cabbage like leaves. (13 Sept 2015) Available from King Seeds. |

A great crop of Daikon Radishes in John's plot 13 September 2015 |

John told me he was very pleased the leeks this year. He planted these out
as seedlings at the size of a pencil in deep holes so that there is a
good length of white leek under the soil. I liked the perfect fan formation taken
on 13 September. |

Birthe's perfect Romanesco broccoli on 20 August

Not sure what John is growing here but I think they are Chinese Cabbages. Just love
the volcanic rock wall with the green (these rocks were all dug out of Johns plot but now
do a good job retaining heat and shelter...downside is that its a good place for snails to live) |

Unsure of the correct name but in the asian vegetable range of bok choy |

A Giant Fork silver beet seedling that just arrived in my plot March 2015 |
|
A particularly striking sunflower - not as tall as the standard Sunflowers grown
at the gardens |

Ramesh's Chillies May 2015 |

Ramesh's bountiful coriander 16 June 2015 |

Cavolo Nero (Tuscan Kale) in Ramesh's patch - July 2015 |

My own pride are the great crop of Florence Fennel bulbs grown
from seed and planted out late summer. This bulb was harvested in June and
I am still harvesting. |
|
I
learn't from Bev that if I just cut the bulbs atroot level then the fennel plant will reshoot
- the resulting bulbs are not so plump but with more off shoots - taken 25 July
2015.
It's
good to know you can get more than one bulb for the effort taken in growing
from seed.
